How to Travel with Wine by Carlo Scevola

If you love to travel and you love wine, chances are high that you’ll find yourself wanting to fly with a bottle of wine in the future. But with all the airport regulations of today, how can you safely travel with wine? Here are some tips to make traveling with wine easier.

Wrap your bottle in heavy clothing or bubble wrap

If you have bubble wrap handy, you can use it to wrap up your bottle of wine and put it in your checked luggage. If you don’t have bubble wrap available, use heavy clothing. Just make sure that you wrap the bottle up extremely well. You want the bottle to survive being tossed about (and possibly even thrown) by luggage handlers. You can also use WineSkins or a JetBag, which are specifically made to transport wine safely.
Make sure that it’s also placed in your suitcase in a position that it won’t be able to move around much. If you used clothing to pad your wine bottle, it’s also wise to place the wrapped-up bottle in a plastic bag– just in case.
